Update: Month Twenty Four

Whether I believe it or not, my baby is two years old.  For the past week we have been practicing with Cole, telling him he was two, and he had been saying that just fine....ask him today, and he said "free" (three)!  By the end of the day he was saying four (through giggles)...silly guy :0)  Cole is busy at two, but that's no surprise, he was busy at one!  One thing he is especially busy working on is talking...he has been putting two or three words together, and is quick to repeat anything that Kate says.  We recently moved turned Cole's car seat to the forward facing position, so now he tells us everything he sees as we are driving down the road...it's really cute!  I could go on and on, but I will let you enjoy some pictures until the next update :0)

A few birthday pics

I posted an update for Kate's birthday, but never got to the actual birthday pictures.  Kate had a busy day with school in the morning and gymnastics in the afternoon.  We celebrated with a pizza party and cake with just the four of us...it was a good time!

Kate looking oh so stylish in her new birthday shades!

Ooh la la!

This party was all about shades and hats :0)

Showing off her new shoes (they are not only rainbow colored and sparkly, but they light up with each step!...she walked into the basement the other morning and I though the cops had showed up... :0)) and new jammies.

Kate requested a rainbow cake this year...a change from her usual order of strawberry cake.  I picked up a delicious chocolate cake at Whole Foods and decorated it with sprinkles...she thought it was great!

Monkey

It was perfect timing that my parents were meeting some friends in Park City the same weekend that Cole turned one, so they were able to celebrate with us!  We also had a few good friends in attendance and an absolutely beautiful day to round it all out!  Here are some birthday pictures from Cole's party.  I still can't believe that he's one!!

Cole often sounds like a monkey, he also climbs around like one, so when I saw these cute cupcakes I knew we needed them for Cole's birthday...but I had to make them...  When will I learn that I can't do everything and stay sane?!  I pulled it off with help from my mom, but of course was grumpy and rude in the process...sorry, and thanks mom!

What a beautiful September day!!

Cracker in hand (and mouth), Cole was ready for cake (cupcake)!  Kate was a great birthday helper :0)  I totally expected her to be jealous of the birthday boy, but she really wasn't!

I love that Kate and Cole were SO into watching Marc light that candle!

And speaking of being into things, Cole was WAY into that cupcake!

Does it get much better?!

We almost got everyone looking :0)

Happy Birthday Cole!!!

One year ago we dropped Kate off at Ann's house and headed to the hospital to have a baby (that planned c-section is still blowing my mind!...anyway...).  I was sure that we were going to have a girl, and I think Marc did too (although with both kids he would NEVER say either way what he thought).  He did however let out quite a squeal of delight as he announced that our new baby was a boy!  We just couldn't believe it!  How lucky were we?  SO LUCKY!!  Then for about two months afterward we would look at Cole and then each other and say "Can you believe we had  boy?!"  We finally believe it...even if it took a year :0)

Sweet baby boy!

Birthday boy!  We love you bug!

Update: Month Thirty-Six

Kate has been excited about her birthday for months!  She's been preparing by learning how to hold up three fingers instead of two, telling everyone that she was going to be "free" in "Maach" (said with a little Boston accent), and finally learning the actual date of the thirteenth (that she says in the cutest little way).  I have also been prepping myself, trying to come to terms with the fact that my baby girl is no longer a baby, but really is turning into a little girl!!!
I am constantly amazed by how smart our daughter is!  We recently bought a Brain Quest workbook that was pre-k level (age 4-5) and Kate knows 98% of what's in it!  She loves working on it and when we do, we both sit at the kitchen table proud as peacocks...Kate because she knows that she knows this stuff, and me because I love seeing the excitement she gets from learning!  She LOVES to read and will often grab a book to "read" to Cole.  I have mentioned before that she has most books memorized, but she also makes up new stories to tell him...it's super cute!
Speaking of Cole, Kate is an amazing big sister!  There have been moments of jealously when she has acted out and hit him or thrown something at him, but it is actually rare that she does something mean to him.  She constantly tells me how much she loves him and she is always trying to make him laugh :0)
On to the birthday pictures...

Yup, definitely a little girl :0)

Look at those pearly whites!

CAKE!!!

I had it all planned to bake the cake in tin cans...and have three little cakes (3 cakes for 3 years).  Well, my attempt at that failed miserably...luckily the cake mix was on sale!  I didn't want to load the kiddos back in the car for a one item trip to the store, so I made brownies instead and frosted them then stacked them like layers of cake...it worked out well, especially since Kate only wanted to eat the strawberries anyway :0)

Kate was really excited to blow out her candles and "make wishes!"
Happy 3rd Birthday Kate!  You are one amazing girl!

Update : Month Twenty Four

I've said it before and I'll say it again...and again...I CAN NOT believe that Kate is 2!! When she is asked how old she is she proudly says "two", and she seems content with that...no longer saying that she is three :0) Kate is funny, strong willed, smart, and loving. She loves to dance and sing (she has the cutest little voice!), and she goes nonstop ALL day long...making for one tired mommy! She weighs in at 22 pounds and is 31 inches tall...perfect! She is growing all the time, and she is a great eater!

Learning how to use her noisemaker.

Opening presents with some help from dad.

Yeah!!!

We got her a bug that roams around and blows bubbles...
...it was quite a hit!! She was telling "him" which way to go.

"Oh no, my cake is on fire!"

Kate wanted a strawberry cake...yum!!!

Realizing the cake wasn't actually on fire, and that she was going to get to blow out some candles!

She knew just what to do!

Blowing out the last candle....Happy Birthday Kate!!!!!

More birthday

I know, I know, it's been two weeks since Kate's birthday, but there are so many cute pictures I have to keep posting them. Thanks to Noel, Kate had the cutest little dress to wear to her party. As much as I don't want to admit it, I can't deny that Kate really looks like a toddler in this picture...no longer a little baby :0)

Three Generations

We were so lucky to be surrounded by family for Kate's birthday. Both my parents and Marc's parents were here as well as some of our brothers and sisters. I made sure to get some pictures this time, including this one.
Me and Kate, my mom, and my sister. Sorry girls, but Kate is by far the cutest generation...I'm pretty sure you agree :0)

Birthday cupcakes

I opted for cupcakes instead of a cake for Kate's birthday, especially once I saw the cutest cupcakes ever in a magazine a few months ago...with special pink frosting...
In the making. Kate was taking a peek with some help from Aunt Lauren.

The end result, "candles" and all.

Drinking age

Indy turns 3 today...that's 21 in dog years! Here he is, the cute little puppy we drove 2 hours in rush hour traffic to get (you might say that was bad planning...). We saw this picture on KSL and knew that he was what we were looking for. Turned out to be a great choice!

Happy Birthday Mabel!!

Mabes...as I call her most of the time is 1 year old today! I was 15 weeks pregnant when Mabel was born and I remember going to the hospital to see her and just being so overwhelmed by how amazing she was, and so excited that I would get a baby of my own within a few months time! Visit to the doctor

We had our first doctor's appointment for Kate today, and we have been excited to see how much she weighs these days. She is a good eater, and has started to out grow a few onsies that were the only thing that fit her in the hospital. Imagine my surprise when I placed her on the scale and she weighed 7 pounds 13 ounces!!!! The doctor was surprised as well, saying that he expects babies to be back to their birth weight at 2 weeks....and anything extra is GREAT! She is healthy, and at this rate will be as big or bigger than Mabel in no time! YIKES!!!!
Also.......
HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDMA M!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We'll see you soon!!!!!!!
